The choice of the wedding day underwear should be treated extremely carefully by the bride. After all, she will not have an uneventful night. That night might set the mood for the upcoming future, as (hopefully) that is the first night the couple… well… you know! So, every bride must look and feel her sexiest for her husband.

It seems like there is no problems here – what’s so hard about buying good lingerie? But read on and see that there are actually couple tricks that might help you with your wedding night lingerie/underwear choice.

First trick is that you should never buy the lingerie/underwear before the dress. Every woman knows that underwear “climbs” under clothing; thus, the choice of the style, fit, even color should be selected only after the dress itself is ready.

Of course most brides want to look the sexiest for their new husbands, but if you think that there is a piece of lingerie that will further arouse your new found half, you can forgo some coziness.

Another must is trying the underwear on, and you might have to test couple sets. And since every woman knows the advantages and disadvantages of her constitution, it’s important to make sure to pick a set of underwear that compliments your body correctly. Or in some cases you want to cover something, or contrary, enhance something.

You should also be concerned about how comfortable the underwear is; does it sit correctly, does it rub, or hurt you in any way, does it grate… Remember that you won’t have a chance to “fix” your underwear during the ceremony, or the reception. Sometimes you might have to wear it throughout the entire day without having a single minute to yourself.

You also shouldn’t limit yourself to only a bra and pantie set. You can go further and buy garters and other accessories that have come back into fashion within the last couple years.

And when choosing your underwear, think less about what is fashionable, and more about what your future husband likes. Chances are you already know him quite well (hopefully), and you know his preferences. In most cases man prefer comfort to sexapeal!

6. La Boîte à Culottes Etam !

We loved what these guys did, as they managed to do the same as GrigioLingerie.com... Glorify the product, not the models, as at the end of the day you'll be buying the product - and the freedom to create your own sexy image - not the model!

5. Victoria Secret Commercial

This feels more like an ego stisfaction expenditure, rather than a commercial; but, nevertheless here you go:

3. Agent Provocateur Autumn/Winter 2010

The reason we picked this one as number 3 is because... First, it aired on French Cable TV for over 2 months, and you have to appreciate the "guts"... Second, every guy that say this commercial, turned to us and went, "Where can I get this for my girlfriend?"

I truly and honestly don't understand why the lingerie industry treats itself so shallowly. It is a respectable sphere of fashion, and the people that work in that sphere are equally creative and smart. Then why do most web sites treat lingerie, and the advertisement of lingerie as a joke? Why is lingerie and women's underwear advertized in such a vulgar, revolting manner?

We created GrigioLingerie as a repectable alternative for buying underwear. We respect our customers, and their privacy. We ship their items in a timely manner. And if problems arise, which they might (sometimes the customer picks the wrong size, sometimes the size is not EXACTLY accurate across all brands) we treat the case in a way that the customer always walks away happy!

So when it came to advertising our product, we had to find a photographer that matches our style, and would be able to display the product, rather than the model. After all, it's the lingerie you're buying not the model! Unfortunately, in Los Angeles, every imbecile that has an Instagram account calls himself a photographer, while most of them don't have studios, or sometimes even sufficient equipment. Luckily that narrowed our choice between few professional photographers.

GG Pro Photo is of the top rated studios in Los Angeles area. It's actually located in Glendale, but once you work with the photographer (http://www.facebook.com/GGProPhoto) you quickly realise that it's worth the drive. The photographer is easy going and down to earth (unlike most photographers in LA), and makes the model feel comfortable, and is able to bring the true beauty of the model forward.

Shooting with GG Pro Photo was a blast, and the prices were exceptionally reasonable. And he had the photos ready for us the next day. We're talking about over 120 photos, and they were ready the next day! Below is a link to GG Pro Photo, and you can contact the photographer at: (818)240-6611 (George)

History of Underwear

The Lioncloth

Researchers have found remnants of leather loin-cloths with remains of pre-historic men, who lived more than 7,000 years ago. The loincloth was the simplest and the first type of undergarment worn by humans. It was worn by itself in warmer climates and it was covered by outer layers of clothing in colder areas. Ancient Egyptians, as long ago as 2, 000 years B.C., used fabric to make undergarment. Researchers have found supplies of underwear, in the tombs of pharaohs, for use after death.

The Chiton

Ancient Greeks' style of dressing was very simple, a 'chiton', a long woolen cloth - a large enough to wrap around entire body - was worn from the neck down, and went all the way to above the knees. The side was left open and was fastened by a 'fibulae' a pin or broach. One could also wear a girdle round the 'chiton' and he would pull the 'chiton' through the. And slaves wore loincloths. But the 'chitons' are not considered undergarments; thus, the ancient Greeks did not wear underwear.

The Subligaculum

The article of clothing that resembles undergarments the closest was worn by men in ancient Rome, it was called a 'subligaculum', which translated from Roman would mean a pair of shorts or a loincloth that would be worn under the 'toga' or the tunic.

The Baries

Around 13th century or so, pull-on underpants were came into fashion and underwear became vital piece of clothing. The loincloth was replaced by a large and baggy drawers called 'braies', which were made from linen and seems to have been worn by men under their normal clothing. Knights wore 'braies' under chainmail and topped it off by the armor. The wearer would step into them and then laced them around his waist and at about mid-calf. You might have seen what they look like in Pre-Renaissance illustrations.

By the time Renaissance hit, the braies became shorter and shorter to accommodate longer styles of chausses. However, these chausses and braies designs were not intended to be covered by other layers of clothing, so they weren't actually underwear in the sternest sense. Braies were typically fitted with an opening in the front that buttoned closed. This codpiece would allowed men to urinate without removing the braies entirely. At first, the codpiece was entirely a practical matter of modesty. Men's hose were classically very comfortable on the legs and completely open at the crotch, with the genitalia completely loose under the doublet and visible. When leaning or bending over a shortening of the doublet could result exposure of genitalia, so a codpiece came into being. At first these codpieces were shaped to emphasize genitalia and often became padded and bizarrely shaped objects. Even Henry the VIII began padding his codpiece, which caused a trend of larger and larger codpieces; a trend that ended by 16th Century (luckily). Sometimes they were doubled as pockets, and used as a handy carrying places for a variety of objects; serving a double-purpose.

The Union

In the Victorian era, undergarments were in two pieces and all undergarments were being made by hand. Materials used were cotton, linen, and even silk. In America, a type of undergarment worn was called "drawers" and worn from waist down. It was made of wool but it could also be made of any other fabric. The favorite upper garment was a wool flannel blouse worn next to the skin.

The Industrial Revolution brought about the water-powered spinning machines and the production of 'cotton gin.' This made cotton materials widely available and brought about the production of mass-produced underwear. Now, people started buying undergarments in stores, and not making them at home. The standard undergarment of this time period the 'Union suit', which covered everything from the wrists to the ankles, and was worn by men, women, and children. These union suits were usually made of knitted materials. They had a drop flap in the back and a buttoned opening in the front. Because of the top to bottom coverage, they got the name 'Union suit'. Hanes (the company we're all so familiar with) opened numerous mills for the production of 'Union suits'.

Interesting trivia - The name 'Long Johns' was actually at first used for the long underwear issued to American soldiers at World War II. It gets its name from the old boxing gear worn by John L. Sullivan, a boxer in late 1880s.

The Invention of Sizing

At the end of World War II, Jockey and Hanes still remained the industry leaders in underwear production. And now, a preshrinking procedure called 'Sanforization' started being used. Prior to 'Sanforization' one had to buy his/her underwear a size larger, so to allow for shrinkage of 1 size in the wash.
Garments more closely resembling the present-day design of the bra started appearing by early 20th century. Nevertheless a large-scale commercial production started only in 1930s. The metal shortages, during WWII, encouraged the doom of the corset. By the time the war ended, the fashion had adopted the brassier in Europe and North-America. From there the brassieres spread into Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
Like most clothing, brassieres were originally made by small companies. Now used term "bra cup" or "bra cup size" weren't used to describe bras. All the way till 1916 the manufacturers had to rely on stretchable cups for the bras to be able to accommodate different sized breasts, leaving very little room (literally) for women with larger breasts.

The Wonderful Wonderbra

In October 1932, the S.H. Camp and Company correlated the sizes of bras to letters of the alphabet, A through D. And that is the sizing standards that we've used till the present. In 1930's a more curvaceous figure was coming into fashion, and the more modest looks were leaving the fashion scene. This was encouraged by the bras that were designed to actually support/emphasize, rather than flatten, the breasts. And the invention of the cup-sizing system allowed a more comfortable and a more accentuating bra. The conical bra became more popular, as it provided a shape underneath the sweater. This is when underwiring and padding started to be offered as options. Nevertheless, it wasn't till 1960's that the push-up bra was officially introduced to the public. Invented by Louise Poirier (a prophet, as some men see him), a Canadian designer introduced the "Wonderbra" in 1964. During an era where bras were more often disregarded rather than worn, the Wonderbra was an instant success and became enormously popular. It was not only functional, but sexy as well. It was advertized not only as a wonderful push-up bra but also as a confidence promoter. And the popularity of the Wonderbra was only amplified by the sex revolution.

The De-Evolution of Underwear

The final step in the evolution of the undergarments might end with the modern trend, which is not wearing underwear altogether. This practice is known as "freeballing" (or freebuffing for females); and "going commando" (a term that was popularized by the TV show Friends). This shows how far women underwear has come from being a hygienic aide. When a modern person bathes every day, underwear is barely a necessity, and is becoming the final barrier to sex.
